IOST has announced the launch of IOST Mainnet Olympus v3.10.1. This follows the introduction of IOST Mainnet, which was nearly 4 years ago. More specifically, IOST Mainnet was launched on February 25, 2019.
Prompting the launch of Olympus v3.10.1 is the result that the team has observed during the Mainnet phase. Per the numbers publicly made available in the announcement, it has been stated that the Mainnet phase was able to onboard rapid growth through mainnet accounts, decentralization applications, and transaction volume. This has put IOST on the list of the top four dApp public blockchain platforms.
Several versions of updates were launched. If the trend is anything to go by, more such updates are underway in the days to come. Olympus v3.10.1 is a non-compatible upgraded version of the Mainnet. It requires nodes to switch the tab to Olympus v3.10.1 maximum by September 10, 2023. Nodes could be block-producing or non-block-producing ones; the upgrade is recommended nonetheless for everyone.
Manual upgrades are likely to face some roadblocks. The most expected roadblock is docker panic. If encountered, node operators are advised to check if they have set security-opt to seccomp:unconfined. The specific command is available in IOST Developer Documentation.
Moving forward, IOST has said that it will enhance libp2p module and remove mplex support.
This development has come days after IOST announced its partnership with leading Korean Venture Capitalist and HG Ventures. IOST is backed by operations of facilitating the operations of several local projects. While the expansion in South Korea may not have been the direct aim, it has achieved that by supporting projects like Coin Live and Cappy.
IOST continues to amplify its presence now by participating in events including, but not limited to, hackathons, Demo Day, and meetups that are generally held in Japan and Hong Kong.
With HG Ventures by the side, IOST is confident of having a larger number of local projects on the network. HG Venture will be the node partner of the blockchain, playing a crucial role in contributing to its development. IOST is confident that having Korean Venture Capital and HG Ventures will help the team grab more opportunities that come in the future.
IOST is currently headquartered in Singapore as an enterprise-level blockchain platform. It has a lot of support from venture capital firms across the world, like ZhenFund, Sequoia Capital, and IDG, among others. IOST is based on the fundamental values of innovation, collaboration, and openness.
An area where IOST shines the most is in Web3 metaverse music. Known as the pioneer of the Web3 sphere, IOST is, and has committed to remain forever, the main force behind decentralized identity, consensus algorithms, and zero-knowledge proofs. Other areas include AI, NFTs, DeFi, XR, and Relay Based Protocol.
IOST Mainnet Olympus v3.10.1 is live as of August 31, 2023. Deployment details can be found in the official IOST Developer Documentation.
