ENS and DNS namespace has joined hands for something unique and will benefit the users. Reportedly, the entire DNS namespace has integrated with ENS, and they are live on Ethereum mainnet.
The integration will enable the DNS owners a second-level domain. Ideally, this domain name has one dot in it. This facility is given so that they can import their name for using ENS.
For instance, if you have instance.com on DNS and want to import into ENS, it will be instance.com instead of example.eth. Further, you can set the record on ENS that will allow you to receive payment in cryptocurrencies like ETH, DOGE, BTC, and others to instance.com.
The integration is likely to bring new opportunities for the users of both domains.
Long Way Ahead
People who have been stalking ENS for some time must be aware that it will take a long time to make (anticipated!!).
However, when ENS was launched in 2017, it was only supporting ENS-native TLS.ETH. It was set in a way that was supporting further TLDs. The objective of this integration is to expand ENS by forming more ENS-native TLDs. They will be created with such features that get further integrated into the DNS namespace. This way, the users will also benefit from the situation and the ENS for the longest period.
The brains initially announced the said plan behind ENS and the lead developer Nick Johnson at Devcon3. The improvement and advancements in ENS have given the confidence for further integration.
This was their first step ahead in the name of expansion. All this could be possible because of the single dot domain names in ENS. It is also believed that this is the beginning, and they will experience significant advances in the future.
