Changpeng Zhao (CZ), founder and former CEO of Binance, recently shared his thoughts regarding AI and their relationship with cryptocurrency on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). In the tweet, the founder sparked a discussion, he stated “While crypto is the currency for AI, not every agent needs its own token.” This emphasizes a practical approach to the integration of AI and blockchain technology.
Integrate AI in the Existing Crypto Ecosystem
In today’s world where AI is being integrated within each industry, its integration with the blockchain industry has led to a surge in token creation tied to these agents such as, Terminal of Truths (ToT), AI Agent Tokens on Base, and the AgentLayer Tokens.
From the tweet that has been made today by CZ suggests that he seems to be against this trend. From his tweet, it can be decoded that he is suggesting developers should leverage the existing cryptocurrencies for transaction fees and services instead of introducing new tokens.
According to CZ, new tokens should only be launched when there is significant scale and clear utility of the token that can justify their existence.
CZ Promotes Sustainability
This perspective highlights the fact that CZ is trying to promote sustainability within the crypto ecosystem. He emphasized that meaningful innovation often comes right after the initial hype subsides. If the developers prioritize real-world applications over speculative token launches, developers can create value for users and there would be no market volatility.
With this tweet, he is trying to make people understand that it would be more impactful if the innovations are not based on speculative gains and based on driving sustainable growth at the intersection of AI and blockchain.
