The Ethereum Layer 2 network Base is all set to launch a new feature called ‘Fault Proof’ on the main net on October 30. This upgrade will provide a major advancement that will strengthen the network’s security and reliability. Implementing fault groups will allow users to monitor and dispute invalid withdrawals without relying on trusted intermediaries.
Users can now freely raise challenges against insecure and dubious transactions, enhancing the system’s overall security and decentralization. With this upgrade, all pending withdrawals will need to be verified again. Any withdrawals initiated before the update will also need to go through a 7-day challenge period.
The waiting period will ensure the resolution of any potential disputes before withdrawals are completed. Furthermore, the existing ‘L2OutputOracle’ will be replaced by the new contract called the ‘DisputeGameOutput,’ which is tasked with submitting output root statements. This transfer is expected to make the process more effective and efficient.
The launch of ‘Fault Proofs’ is a major improvement for the Base blockchain, as this will ensure its robust security. This update will further allow users to resolve any invalid transactions easily. With these upgrades, the network is taking more important steps toward building a more decentralized and reliable ecosystem.
