DeepSeek continues to make headlines, and even Apple’s CEO couldn’t help but applaud the Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) platform. Meanwhile, NVIDIA has launched DeepSeek R1 on its NIM platform.
Apple CEO Praises DeepSeek
During Apple’s earnings call, Apple CEO Cook was asked about his views on future iPhone models in terms of form innovation. Cook said, “I think there is still a lot in the future, the innovation of the iPhone is far from over, and there is still a lot of innovation space for smartphones. I am extremely optimistic about our product line.” He also stated that
DeepSeek’s AI model represents “innovation that drives efficiency” and added, “overall, I think innovation that drives efficiency is a good thing”.
Cook’s comments on iPhone innovation presents the firm’s optimism towards AI especially after DeepSeek’s hype around its ‘cost-effectiveness’ has overshadowed Silicon Valley’s ‘expensive AI efforts’.

Meanwhile, Nvidia, the somewhat ‘monopolistic Computer Chip Maker’, took a hit after it was revealed that DeepSeek used ‘highly cost-effective’ chips. However, NVIDIA has teamed up with the AI, and has confirmed that DeepSeeK R1 671b has been released as an NVIDIA NIM Microservice Preview on build.nvidia.com.
The DeepSeeK R1 NIM Microservice, as per the official blog, can handle up to 3,872 tokens per second on a single NVIDIA HGX H200 system. Developers can test and experiment with the API, and the API is expected to be released soon as part of the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform in downloadable NIM Microservice form.
