A fresh date has been earmarked for the reconditioning of the Cronos Mainnet Network to Cronos V1.0 “Galileo.” This is now to be on the 17th of January, 2023. With this very occurrence, all of the nodes will be required to recondition their Corona binary to the recent latest version, V1.0, to a certain target block height, the information for which will be released in due time.
The prime and significant upgrades that have been carried out where the Cronos V1.0 is concerned are first with the mempool to scale TPS much more. Then follows the node storage, which has been increased, and which happens to be 30% reduced storage for full nodes. Certain functionality and capability-related modifications have been made in relation to the nodes. These entail GRPC queries and concurrent responses. Here too, there has been a general decrease in the startup duration of a node by 50%. Where another improvement is concerned, fresh Cosmos primary functions will open the doors for better EVM/Cosmos interoperability.
Following the date slated for the upgrade, the chain is required to be upgraded to a particular block height. Upon reaching the specified height, it will be expected of all the node operators then upgrade to the latest version. In this case scenario, the node will continue to function in tandem with the chain. At this point in time, however, there will be a pause, to be followed by a resumption right after most of the validators are upgraded.
