Tim Cook Discussed Apple’s Privacy Strategy & Future Products

In an insightful conversation, the Chief Executive Officer of Apple, Tim Cook, threw light on the company’s plans while emphasizing that Apple sees privacy as a fundamental human right. Tim said that his organization stands firmly behind the privacy concerns ranging across the globe nowadays. He also commented on the enhanced enthusiasm of policymakers, software developers, and other allied stakeholders to strengthen the overall privacy protection for users. He claimed that Apple supported many regulations in this regard and quoted the example of GDPR to prove his point. Further adding, Tim said that Apple is ready to embrace the widening net of legislations that many countries, including the US, are gearing to prepare and implement in the future.

Besides regulations related to privacy concerns, Tim was not very emphatic about other policies. He said that some of the regulations favor the industry, whereas others might not be very conducive to serving the intended users in the long run. Specifically mentioning DMA language, Tim said that he is not in favor of force sideloading of the iPhone as it will create issues with the privacy aspect of the ecosystem that they have created with much effort for the customers. It is important to highlight that Apple’s attempt to track transparency of apps has got wider support, including from the customers, although it hasn’t gone down well within circles of app developers.

Tim also spilled the beans about the future product strategy of Apple. That said, he refrained from making a definitive comment about the future products that will roll out from Apple’s facilities in the future.  He identified some of the potential areas expected to become a great success story in the future. Tim said that Healthcare-Technology and augmented reality (AR) hold promising potential for the company in terms of its future strategy.
