London Court Permits Craig Wright to Sue Cobra

The Chief Scientist of nChain, Craig Wright, is now celebrating his small but significant victory after winning the legal proceedings to claiming control over the rights of access to the Bitcoin white paper. According to the report by Reuters, the High Court of London has decided to allow Craig Wright to file a copyright suit against Cobra, the Bitcoin.org publisher.

The chief claim of the lawsuit is a jaw-dropping one, as Craig Wright puts forth in the plaint that his actual identity is Satoshi Nakamoto, who is known to be the creator of Bitcoin. Wright wants to establish that he is the writer of the Bitcoin white paper, and therefore, he must be vested with the copyright of his work. Through the lawsuit, Wright claims to be the author of the Bitcoin white paper, which entitles him to royalty payment by everyone who has used the white paper to develop altcoins. The white paper of the open-source, decentralized cryptocurrency has been authored by Satoshi Nakamoto, whose identity is the biggest secret of the century. While Craig Wright claims to be Nakamoto, the case is yet to reveal the true details regarding the authorship and originality of the work.

As Cobra is not a registered citizen of the UK, Wright will have to serve the copyright lawsuit via email or Twitter to notify Cobra of the legal proceedings. As per the court filing issued last Wednesday, Cobra is an anonymous and unacknowledged person who is yet to disclose his personally identifiable details like name, address, and identity. However, it is to be noted that the settlement of the copyright case will not lead to any revelation about the origin of Bitcoin or its white paper. Even though the plaint filed by Wright at the London High Court suggests that the primary claim is the disclosure of the details; however, that’s not the case, and therefore the origin of Bitcoin will remain a mystery.
