Lancashire Cricket Begins Using Blockchain for Boosting Tickets Buying

Lancashire Cricket, a leading cricket club based in the United Kingdom, has recently announced that it will begin using blockchain in a bid to enhance its digital ticketing technology.

According to a report, Lancashire Cricket claimed that it has emerged as the first company in the UK to start using blockchain in obtaining mobile tickets for domestic and international matches at Emirates Old Trafford in 2020.

The club is set to use TIXnGO mobile tickets platform soon after a successful trial earlier last year.

Lancashire Cricket said the blockchain platform would help in removing the chances of bogus tickets and touting.

Jonathan Nuttall, Lancashire’s head of ticketing and digital systems, said,

Jonathan said that the club has been working with SecuTix for the last 18 months to make a ticket purchase an essential part of the main event.

David Hornby, UK managing director of SecuTix, said blockchain technology has the potential of resolving several ticketing issues that both fans and sports organizations come across.

Meanwhile, the main purpose of TIXnGO has been to create an exclusive, encrypted ticket for smartphones that can be easily traced. It will go a long way in eliminating the risk of fake tickets. It will also simplify the procedure of reselling or transferring tickets for the customers.

The introduction of blockchain also ensures that Lancashire will continue its efforts to innovate ticketing operations. Earlier, the club also introduced several unique ticketing technology initiatives in the last 12 months to boost the entire member and supporter experience. It may include the new resale platform and allowing the use of PACIFA technology which displays supporters a 3D view from their seats before buying international and Vitality Blast tickets at Emirate Old Trafford.
