Announcement on the Coming BTFS 2.0 Mainnet Launch and the New Airdrop Plan

BitTorrent has been making some fundamental changes to its decentralized infrastructures lately. The peer-to-peer file-sharing system has earlier announced its introduction of the new native coin, BTT. Following this major upgrade, BitTorrent has recently notified the internet about its plan to launch the new mainnet, the BTFS 2.0, on the 22nd of February. A detailed itinerary was released to guide the users as they go through the transition of BTFS 1.0 into the new version.

The plans primarily inform us about the shifting of the Airdrops from the Tron network. The airdropped BTT coins would not be sent to the addresses on TRON anymore. Alternatively, the rewards will reach the BTTC nodes’ addresses directly. The rewards can be accessed by importing the private key to the MetaMask wallet. A document briefing the steps of BTFS Airdrop management was released to guide the users during the transition.

Secondly, there will be a temporary change in the Airdrop plans of BTTC. This temporary change is planned to last for three weeks to ensure a smooth transition from NTFS 1.0 to BTFS 2.0. This will take effect on the 15th of February and would continue until March 7. After the three-week window, the Airdrop will be thoroughly shifted to BTFS 2.0 mainnet. The old platform would no longer receive any rewards thereafter.

As per the schedule, the BTFS 1.0 platform is set to receive 100% of the Airdrop rewards. During the second week, 20% of the entire rewards will be sent to the new mainnet while the old platform receives the larger portion of it. The third week leveled the ground by splitting the rewards in half between the old BTFS platform and the new mainnet. After the smooth transition into BTFS 2.0, the rewards will be entirely reserved for the new platform from the 8th of March.

The NFT Badge contest on the BTFS testnet is scheduled to end just before the launch of the new mainnet. The users stand a chance to win BTFS NFT badges from this event. Furthermore, the users are instructed not to worry about losing their data from BTFS 1.0 as it was told to work even on the new network. The available information about the upgrade is scarce, and the announcement claims that more details will be provided as we get close to the launch of the mainnet.

BTFS is still working on the mainnet to ensure they do not run into any problems during the change. As of now, no big change is expected in the tentative schedule of the launch. However, it is better to keep informed about the recent notifications from BTFS if you are planning to avail some of the perks for you. This new update has been receiving positive responses from everywhere, and according to this BTT coin price prediction, BTT holders have an optimistic year to look forward to.
