Philip Banks, the creator of CHILLGUY, revealed that his X account was hacked and remains under the control of hackers even now after they falsely announced the granting of intellectual property (IP) rights to the CHILLGUY token team.
In his latest Instagram post, Banks confirmed that his X account is still under the hackers’ control.
CHILLGUY Creator Philip Banks’ Account Hacked
The saga began when Banks’ X account posted a message stating, “I’ve decided to provide licensing and IP rights to the CHILLGUY token and team.” This tweet immediately raised suspicions within the community, especially when the account was linked to the launch of a new meme coin featuring another of Banks’ characters, Philb, on Pump.fun.
The new crypto coin quickly gained traction, reaching a $1 million market cap before crashing entirely. This pump-and-dump scam further fueled concerns that Banks’ accounts had been hacked or compromised.
Another tweet from Banks’ account allegedly read, “CHILLGUY’s image and rights will NEVER be involved in crypto. Spreading hate, attacking my family, committing crimes to profit off of my art, which you do not have permission over,” and continued, “[I’m preparing] to battle these crypto platforms legally.”
All the tweets have since been deleted, and Banks’ Instagram post confirmed that the account is still controlled by hackers.
CHILLGUY Continues to Dip
According to GMGN market data, the false tweet caused CHILLGUY to plummet 15% within a short period before partially recovering.
At the time of writing, the token price dipped 12.68%, currently trading at $0.3177. The total market cap also dropped by 13.96% to $313.48 million. However, the 24-hour trading volume surged by 205.34% to $275.05 million.
