Max Avery, one of the crypto influencer has launched a petition urging Margaret Brennan and 60 Minutes to release the entire tape of the interview with Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse as the petition demands full transparency. The petition needs a 1000 signatures and 619 of have been signed as of now.
Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse also showed his dissatisfaction on his X post, with the 60 Minutes interview because only 13 minutes of the interviewed was aired. The aired interview has managed to raise many misconception about the crypto industry.
A Critical Examination of the Interview with Ripple CEO
Perianne Boring, a well-known voice in the crypto industry, gave out an excellent analysis which criticized the 13 minute video feature. She pointed out at least five flaws on X with the aired version of the interview which created misunderstanding about the industry.
She highlighted the fact that the aired interview framed crypto industry as a threat to democracy, relied on questionable opposition like John Reed Stark’s claims about crypto, failed to challenge the SEC’s weak defense amid its regulatory flaws.
The show even misrepresented FTX’s collapse as a crypto failure rather than result of ineffective crypto regulations and ignored the urgent need of clarity with in the crypto regulations.
The petition indicates how badly the crypto community members want to know more about the actual discussion that went on during the interview. By releasing the full interview, 60 Minutes has the opportunity to address the raised concerns and misconceptions that arose with the aired version.
