Binance recently announced that it would help users affected by the earthquake in Morocco. Binance Charity will airdrop up to 3 million dollars in BNB to the affected users.
The exchange is running a POA (Proof of Address) to identify the users in the Marrakesh-Safi province. Any eligible user who has completed the POA will get 100 dollars in BNB directly to their account. If the users have not completed the POA before the due date, they will only be able to get 25 dollars in BNB until September 30. The amount will also be shared with their Binance account directly.
Active users throughout Morocco living outside the affected areas can also participate in the airdrop. These users will get 10 dollars worth of BNB in their account. According to Binance, over 70,000 BNB users have been affected by the tragedy.
Since the aftermath of such disasters led to users losing touch with traditional banking, Binance is sharing extra funds for assistance. The funds can cover expenses such as food, medical supplies, and other essential needs.
Binance believes that crypto transfers are being used to provide financial assistance to tragedy victims. Such transactions are borderless, low-cost, transparent, and quick. Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance, also talked about the development.
According to CZ, Binance intends to provide support to affected users in Morocco. Users in the afflicted areas are urged to help those who are less affected by the earthquake. Besides this, Binance has also released a public donation address where interested users can contribute to the cause.
The amount accrued in the account will be shared with a regulated NGO. Users can donate in BUSD, USDT, USDC, ETH, BNB, or BTC. Binance will soon share the name of the NGO responsible for distributing the funds to affected users.
