As per relevant information received from reliable sources in the Metropolitan Police Department of London, concerned authorities and officials have been successful in unearthing an act of fraud, culminating in the immediate arrest of more than a hundred individual involved persons. This is indeed hugely significant, as it is being touted as one of the United Kingdom’s biggest fraud scenarios.
This is related to the discoveries made regarding a website that had been operational by the name of iSpoof. There are currently rumors circulating that the fraud directly affected more than 200,000 people who happened to be somehow connected with it. As per the information available, the initial doubts surfaced when the police authorities managed to track down some of the concerned bitcoin-related records.
The apparent modus operandi of the members of iSpoof was to induce relevant scammers to adopt the role of being authentic officials connected with various banks. They were using some of the names of prime banks that they were pretending to be associated with, such as Barclays, Santander, HSBC, Lloyds, and some others, in order to gain the complete trust of the intended victims they had been approaching.
The pretenders in this case happened to have been utilizing bitcoin in exchange for the necessary services rendered. However, due to the sheer diligence of the officials concerned and connected with the fact-finding process, the entire scam was effectively exposed. The teams in question, who were actively participating in the unraveling, happened to be officials connected with the Cyber Crime Unit of Scotland Yard, along with able support from concerned officials from the United States of America and Ukraine.
