Ultra is one of the front runners working for the amalgamation of blockchain technology with the gaming industry. Recently, the Paris-based firm has launched its blockchain, namely UOS, and announced that the video game giant Ubisoft would help in validating transactions on the blockchain for gamers.
Notably, Ultra’s UOS is a sister branch of the EOSIO chain. Ubisoft, a France-based gaming company, is the first big corporate agreeing to transact during a trial period on Ultra’s testnet. In simple words, Ubisoft will help Ultra in verifying the working and reliability of the new blockchain. Moreover, several big names in the gaming industry are closely looking at the developments going on in the blockchain technology as it has the potential to disrupt a lot of businesses.
Nicolas Gilot, Co-CEO of Ultra, stated that Ubisoft is one of the prominent names in the video game industry and is committed to inculcate blockchain technology in gaming. “we are very excited to be announcing our first cooperation of this kind with them.” He further argued that Ubisoft has world-renowned games like Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance and Far Cry in its portfolio. Their portfolio is the “testament to their dedication to creating quality content for all.” On top of that, Ubisoft has dedicated years to explore blockchain technology will ensure that “they have the knowledge and skills to be excellent block producers.”
Ubisoft is block producers that have a huge database and will provide the computing infrastructure for blockchain producers like Ultra in validating transactions occurring on the UOS chain. Games have features like in-game assets generation, ownership transfers, and payments for purchasing in-game assets. Blockchain technology aims at being the platform on which this transaction happens. Additionally, Ultra requires block producers who have both an interest and the capabilities to grow this new ecosystem.
Nicolas Pouard, Ubisoft’s blockchain initiative director, stated that Blockchain use cases that can add value to the game and ultimately to the players are needed to support.
He further added,
Blockchain and cryptocurrencies are making disruption in the traditional ways of playing and developing video games. The stakeholders in gaming industries are aware of the fact that blockchain is the way ahead for them. The gaming community is one of the most dedicated fan bases and has a huge potential when it comes to generating revenue. Coming back to Ultra’s blockchain mainnet, the launch date is yet to be announced.
