UK’s traveling firm Alternative Airlines is another big name that has validated cryptocurrencies for their global operations. Alternative Airlines has partnered with Swiss cryptocurrency service Utrust to facilitate the travel payments via cryptocurrencies for around 650 airlines.
The decision was announced on November 13, enabling the customers to book the flights through cryptocurrencies, including Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin, (BTC), DigiByte (DGB) and Utrusts’ native cryptocurrency UTK.
How will the partnership work?
The joint venture will facilitate instant cross border transactions, crypto to cash payment settlements, and buyer protection. In association with Utrust, Alternative Airlines will be protected from the volatile market structure of the crypto industry. Via Utrust services, it can now convert the crypto payments in fiat currency on the same day to deposit it in their bank accounts.
The Utrust partnership will also facilitate the customers to book the flight tickets at competitive rates. Bookings of all major airlines, including Delta Airlines, British Airways, American Airlines, United, Southwest Airlines, Swiss International Airlines, Emirates Ryanair, among others, can be done via this facility. Alternative Airlines will also allow the domestic and regional carriers like Emetebe Airlines from Galapagos Isles to make transactions via cryptocurrencies.
Utrust CEO Nuno Correia commented,
The partnership between the two firms will empower our customers for seamless transactions. Sam Argyle, MD of Alternative Airlines, while revealing the business plans commented that apart from allowing the customers to use 25 payment options, including all major credit and debit cards and offering payment options via 160 localized currencies, this is going to add another convenient option for payments.
Argyle further added,
